Makar Sankranthi 2020

Telugu community celebrate the festival of Makara Sankranthi with immense fervour and devotion. This festival is also observed in the Northern states with the same name. This lasts for up to four days and celebrates the feeling of love, devotion and togetherness. The second day is the most important, as people decorate their houses by making rangolis at the entrance, give away old items and give their life a new start. Bathukamma 2020

Bathukamma is known as the festival of flowers which is celebrated during the divine period of Navratri. This festival also lasts till the last day of Navratri. During this festival, Telugu women worship Goddess Parvati/Gauri by offering a huge amount of colourful flowers. Women offer red coloured flowers such as red roses, tulips, hibiscus and lilies along with different flowers such as marigold, lotus, daisy, etc. On each day of Bathukamma, young girls and women gather at one place and chant their folk songs. Each day of this festival comprises different values and importance.
